Field and Woodland Flower Trails

Everyone is looking for ways to make the most of their daily exercise block. When I’ve tried to point out different flora to my three primary aged boys as we walk around our town they have a skill of sarcastically dismissing me which is second to none. “Hmm, really interesting Dad!” Problem is as a trained mountain leader I think it’s important to keep myself up to scratch on these things so I’ve decided to turn it into a game. So for our two favourite walks around Kirkbymoorside I’ve now produced a visual tick list for some of the flowers we see on the walk. I’m offering a prize for the most flowers identified and ticked off and now the boys are excited to go out and see who can get the most whilst learning something along the way! Home educating does not have to be in the house after all! Feel free to download a copy using the link below as the ID cards can be used on most countryside walks at this time of year.

Thank you. Flower identification is Just what I need. Have found and counted them in our local urban park. An impressive ~ 30 of them. Don’t know half of them by name.

That’s fantastic. Well done Inge and we’re glad you found it useful.
