Jeff and Mick’s Coast to Coast Day Three (Shap to Kirby Stephen)

Day Three: Shap to Kirby Stephen (21 Miles or rest day as we called it!)

IMG 0542  There is no way to sugar coat this.  It’s boring day.  Flat as a pancake and hardly scenic.  It feels harsh sitting writing this and maybe if we’d not been on the bounce from such a draining two days there would have been more to enjoy.  If you’re lucky enough to spot the mini horses it may liven your day.  Obviously these ones were full size but Jeff is just such a man mountain!
IMG 0544  The day consists of lime stone escarpments open moorland and grass pastures with quite a few bits of wildlife on show but other than that is was an uninspiring day.  The best bit about was it was short.  We arrive mid afternoon into Kirby Stephen and found a mini festival taking place.  Kirby Stephen is a lovely little town with some great small eateries, plenty of supermarkets and loads of pubs with real and local ales.  Somehow I managed to drown out the sounds of the festival just outside the hotel!
